Back to blogging... in USA!

Its been a long time since I've blogged, but at least it keeps track for me on the internet, so i dun nid find any diary or rely on my small brain to remember those memories.

Its good to have ppl send me off, when I thought I would just leave singapore quietly for a 6am flight. As I went in the departure hall with my future-pilot fren, YQ, who also going there for exchange, I waved back to those who sent me, with the song "Saint Agnes and the burning train" playing in their heads.

It was my 1st time on plane, quite excited. The 1st flight was to Narita Airport, Japan. Not long after the plane took off, i fell asleep... until the meals and snacks came. The movies available were quite a few only.. watched some, and even fell asleep halfway. I also shitted in the plane's lavatory(toilet), and it was facing some turbulence at that moment. And I was trying to hold the handle and shit, what an awkward moment.... We reached Japan ard noon +, and had to rush to board the next plane, as transit time was only 1h 30min. And so, the next stop was Atlanta, USA.

The journey to atlanta was 12h+, and it was the time travelling moment. Im still figuring out about the lost time and those sun rises/sets. Looking outside of the plane was a complete darkness, could not even see the plane wing and the sky. Slept half the trip, and dozed off when plane was about to land. Worst part : due to the pressure difference from landing, my uppermost gum at the back of my mouth had a very sharp pain. It felt like my teeth was being pulled out without any anaestetics. It was so pain that tears kept rolling down involuntarily, I couldnt even talk, but it just hurts. I was gritting my teeth and holding my cheekbone in pain. My nerve system also went crazy, causing me to shiver and tremble for a while. That feeling lasted for a while, until the plane parked in the depot.

In atlanta airport, we also had to rush, as we had to collect our baggage, and then transfer it to philadelphia again. USA customs also took a while to check, and it seemed that we would miss the flight. YQ almost lost his belongings, and lucky he found them back. That added to our lateness, and we also had to take the "plane train" to another terminal, for our transition flight to Philly. We ran to our berth, but the plane already left, without even waiting for us. We didnt even hear our last calls to board, not even "Melvin Yong, OUT, Melvin Yong, OUT." Luckily, we were able to get the next available flight to Philly, which was just about 1h later.

The plane to Philly from Atlanta was smaller, and without pillow or blanket... and also no entertainment! So I just napped and wait for the short 2h to pass. During landing, I felt pain again, but it was lesser. Finally, we've reached the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. We had to find our luggage, and surprisingly, it came with our flight. Even if we did not miss the earlier flight, we probably had to wait for our luggage.. So it was just the experience of missing a flight..

We took a taxi to YQ's apartment, which was near Drexel Uni. It had a fixed rate of 28.50 USD + 2.10 USD tax. The room was quite normal size, and had aircon all around. Philly was colder than i had expected, around 16 degrees at night. Even the daytime is quite cooling, around 20 degrees.

The meals here have more proportion, and also at a higher cost. Even the plain water is cheaper than coke, sprite or lemon tea! Soon, I will grow bigger in size :)
